El sudafricano James Kingston logró su primer triunfo en el circuito europeo al imponerse en el abierto de su país, disputado en el Pearl Valley Golf, en donde acabó con un golpe de ventaja sobre el inglés Oliver Wilson, líder al final de la tercera jornada.
Kingston, de 42 años, acabó las cuatro vueltas con un total de 284 golpes -cuatro bajo par- para aventajar en uno a Wilson y ya en tres al norirlandés Darren Clarke, los también sudafricanos Garth Mulroy y Louis Oosthuizen y el galés Kyron Sullivan, que compartieron la tercera plaza.
El veterano jugador australiano Greg Norman se clasificó séptimo, empatado con otros tres jugadores, a sólo cuatro golpes de Kingston, mientras que el sudafricano Ernie Els, que defendía el título, fue decimosexto a nueve. El mejor de los españoles fue, a 12 de la cabeza, Luis Claveríe.
